Course Description

Social 12 is a full year course in which we will be examining economics and law.  The economics portion of the course will examine the following topics: opportunity costs, supply and demand, budgets, stock market, car loans, student loans, credit cards, taxes, banking, globalization and current economics issues.  The second portion of the course will examine the criminal justice system in the United States and world.  Throughout this part of the course you will gain valuable information about the American and International criminal justice systems that will help you break Hollywood portrayals of the lawa and be come aware of your own rights as citizens.  Topics to be covered:  Criminal and Civila Law, Student’s Rights, the Crimnal Justice Process (from arrest to sentencing), the juvenile system, Search and Siezure, and Current Events.  Because you are all seniors, and for that matter adults, we will be moving away from traditional methods of learning and start discussing real-life issues that are adult in nature.
