Class Intro and Description
Welcome to the Social Studies elective course Modern Terrorism. Terrorism is perhaps the preeminent issue in American foreign policy today. In order to help foster and create concerned and active citizens it is important to have a general understanding of how terrorism became such an issue and why the United States has become target. Modern terrorism will teach students about the motivations and actions taken by terrorists and the rise of terrorist organizations beginning in the late 1970s – the present day. While this course will focus mainly on the events leading to the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks and their effect, there will also be a portion of the class dedicated to domestic terrorism within the United States.
