Business Honor Society of New York State. 

The primary purpose of the Business Honor Society (BHS) of New York State is to recognize those students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in a secondary business/marketing program.

Eligibility:

Available only to current Seniors:

• Students must complete (or have completed) 4 business education courses (including at least 1 college level) in business education by the end of the fall semester of the current school year.

Minimum Grades Criteria (CALCULATED BY APPLICATION DEADLINE):

• GPA Business Education Courses 88%
• GPA Overall 85%

Additional Criteria:

• Complete the  BHS_application.docx  (TYPE APPLICATION OUT & PHYSICALLY HAND IT IN - EMAIL OR ANY ELECTRONIC METHOD IS NOT ACCEPTED. SUBMIT by deadline listed on application)
  
• Attach copy of your current CHS transcript to application.
• Include a one page (typed) essay indicating why you should be selected for the Business Honor Society. Please ensure that you also describe your volunteer experience(s)/community service.
• Students selected for recognition will have also demonstrated both in the classroom and through extracurricular involvement:

• • Character (evidenced by teachers attesting to this quality- IE: No CDA in any classes, continue to hand in class/homework, etc)
  • Leadership (evidenced by holding committee chair positions, officer/chair or other lead positions in student organizations, sports, civic/community leadership roles, etc.)
  • Service (evidenced by volunteer activities in the school and/or community, etc.)

NOTE:  THE CHS CAREER & TECHNICAL EDUCATION (CTE) DEPARTMENT RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REMOVE STUDENTS (EVEN IF THEY HAVE BEEN INDUCTED) IF THEY FAIL TO CONTINUE TO MEET ALL THE BUSINESS HONOR SOCIETY CRITERIA THROUGH GRADUATION.
